- Rob "The Doc" Babineau Jr.: From Medical Legacy to Memorabilia Master at Gallery 759
Fitchburg, MA, is a place where legacies are built on passion, hard work, and a strong sense of community. One name that resonates deeply here is Babineau, a family synonymous with healthcare dedication, thanks to a multi-generational legacy in the medical field. Rob Babineau Jr., or simply "The Doc," has made his mark in Fitchburg, again, not in medicine, but in a realm he’s equally passionate about: memorabilia and collectible curation. Rob's journey into collecting is as unique as he is. It all began by mistake. Years ago, at a local fundraising event, Rob noticed that the silent auction of items was sitting without a single bid. Feeling disappointed, it moved him to step up and be the difference maker, he decided to buy every single item up for auction. That one spontaneous act of kindness ended up igniting a new passion in him. From that night forward, Rob's collecting journey took off. This story is a testament to his character and his deep care for his community—qualities he’s carried into his role as co-founder of Gallery 759 on Main Street , Fitchburg, MA. "Play Like a Champion Today": A Mantra and a Mission Rob’s loyalty isn’t just limited to Fitchburg; he’s also a die-hard fan of Notre Dame . In fact, if you visit Gallery 759, you might hear him telling stories of his favorite Irish teams or see him in photos with iconic Notre Dame relics . His recent trip to Cartier Field he tapped the famous "Play Like a Champion Today" sign—a ritual for the Fighting Irish players. It’s an emblematic moment, showing the blend of respect for tradition and competitive spirit that he brings to Gallery 759. For Rob, "Playing Like A Champion" doesn’t end with rooting for Notre Dame on Saturdays. It’s the mentality he brings to Gallery 759’s curation, ensuring each piece has not only authenticity but also a story, a legacy, and a "champion" spirit. This dedication is visible in everything the Gallery offers, from signed sports memorabilia to entertainment and even pop culture items. Rob prides himself on curating high-quality, display-ready collectibles, helping fans celebrate their heroes and cherish memories they can pass down. A Family Legacy, Transformed Opening Gallery 759 wasn’t just a career shift for Rob; it was an evolution of his family’s legacy. As much as he’s respected in his community for his family’s medical contributions, Rob is also recognized for his drive to bring world-class memorabilia to collectors. He and Roy have created more than just a store; they’ve created a space where stories live, where legends are celebrated, and where every piece on display offers a link to moments that shaped the world of sports, music, and pop culture. The Babineau family has contributed so much to Fitchburg , but Rob's impact now reaches beyond healthcare. Gallery 759 allows him to share his passion with others and inspire new generations of collectors. As he would tell you, whether in healthcare or collectibles, it’s all about honoring and preserving what matters. So, next time you're in Fitchburg, stop by Gallery 759 and get to know "The Doc" and his meticulously curated collection. For Rob Babineau Jr., this gallery isn’t just about the past—it’s about creating a legacy that fans today and tomorrow can cherish.
- "Dinner for a Cause": Gallery 759 Supporting Skeleton Crew Adventures
Last Friday, November 1st, Gallery at 759 Main had the privilege of sponsoring a heartwarming and impactful event, "Dinner for a Cause" . Held at El Toro Steakhouse in Winchendon , MA, the evening brought together approximately 120 guests to a night of fine dining, community spirit, and a shared commitment to support Skeleton Crew Adventures , a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering veterans and first responders through adventure therapy on the open sea. A Night of Purpose and Support Skeleton Crew Adventures has a mission close to our hearts at Gallery 759. This non-profit journey started at sea, with Hell or High Seas , where Taylor Grieger and Stephen O'Shea’s story and commitment to ushering more care to veterans and first responders with the tools and support they need to overcome PTSD and related challenges. To contribute to this meaningful cause, we organized a silent auction featuring some of our finest military-themed memorabilia , including rare items that honored the bravery and sacrifice of our military heroes. The auction was a success, generating $2,000 in funds—all of which will directly benefit Skeleton Crew Adventures in their ongoing work to uplift and empower. The Evening’s Exquisite Menu El Toro Steakhouse created a truly memorable culinary experience for the night. With the collaboration of Cape Horn Tequila and Skeleton Crew Adventures , the chefs at El Toro curated a five-course meal paired with tequila cocktails that perfectly complemented each dish. Here’s a taste of the evening’s menu: Cocktail to Start : Skeleton Crew Paloma, a refreshing blend that set the tone for the night. First Course : Grilled Romaine with Crispy Pancetta, served with El Toro’s creamy dressing, lemon zest, and aged Parmesan—a delightful take on a classic Caesar. Second Course : Brown Butter Scallops in a Creamy “Cape Horn” Tequila, Caper, and Shallot Sauce—a rich and flavorful seafood dish elevated with a hint of Cape Horn Blanco Tequila. Intermezzo : Lemon Sorbet with a Luxardo Cherry Tequila Blanco Reduction—refreshing and palate-cleansing. Main Course : Filet & Mashed Potatoes, paired with a Cape Horn Reposado Margarita—a savory, satisfying entrée that was a crowd favorite. Dessert : Bread Pudding with a Sweet Brown Butter Glaze—a perfect, warm end to the meal. An Evening of Connection and Generosity The "Dinner for a Cause" event beautifully showcased the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together. Between the incredible support from attendees and the skillful work of El Toro’s culinary team, it was an evening filled with laughter, inspiration, and heartfelt stories. As a gallery dedicated to celebrating history and legacy, it was an honor for us to be part of an event that supported our military and first responders—our community's true heroes. We are grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and helped make this event a success. Special thanks to El Toro Steakhouse for the exceptional dining experience and to Cape Horn Tequila for their generous partnership. Together, we raised both awareness and crucial funds to support Skeleton Crew Adventures' mission. - Roy’s Search for the Uncommon: Stories Behind the Hunt for Memorabilia
There’s something about Roy Crawford that makes you forget you’re talking to one of the most seasoned collectors of sports, music, and pop-art memorabilia around. It’s not the brash confidence you’d expect from someone with his experience—it’s the quiet, deliberate way he speaks about each piece, as if each item tells a story he’s been lucky enough to carry home. “I don’t just buy memorabilia,” Roy once said. “I meet these pieces. They’re not just things—there’s a moment when you know this one’s right .” That philosophy isn’t a tagline—it’s the backbone of Gallery at 759 Main’s collection , the soul that Roy pours into every framed jersey, signed album, and pop-art portrait on the walls. Whether it’s a Patrick Mahomes-signed jersey ready to light up someone’s man cave or an autographed Jalen Hurts , every piece carries not just value but an emotion Roy is careful not to disturb in transit. The Art of the Search For Roy, the search is almost sacred. He doesn’t just browse online listings or wait for items to come to him. Instead, he works closely with his network which spans across North America and overseas, or auctions in Los Angeles, and private collections tucked away in New York brownstones. He’s gone across the world—not with fanfare, but with a quiet persistence that makes him something of a curator with a compass. “I like to think these pieces find me as much as I find them,” he admits. That openness to discovery has led him to some extraordinary finds. For instance, back in the 90s, Roy met and sat with Lawrence “LT” Taylor of the NY Giants. That helped him when organizing an authenticated signature for a piece currently on display in the gallery. It’s a work of art in itself, and it speaks to the kind of meticulous detail Roy insists on—something meant to stand out not just for a season, but for a lifetime. Beyond the Marketplace The work isn’t just about what’s trending or who’s the MVP. “It’s not about getting the most expensive thing on the market,” Roy says, his eyes scanning a framed collection of Muhammad Ali , Michael Jordan , and Babe Ruth on the Gallery walls . “It’s about finding pieces that tell a story.” It’s that personal touch that brings a heartbeat to every piece Roy selects. A signed jersey isn’t just memorabilia—it’s a link to a moment in time, to an athlete’s legacy or a band’s rise to stardom. A lot of items at Gallery at 759 Main—like a 46 x 36 beautifully framed canvas picture featuring the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), New England Patriots Quarterback, Tom Brady . “It’s about more than making a sale,” Roy explains. “You want the person who takes this piece home to feel that connection. When someone looks at it, they should feel the reason they loved the game, the concert, or the moment in the first place.” The Human Side of Collecting Roy’s approachable demeanor is a rarity in a field that often prioritizes auctions and transactions over human connection. His mission is simple: Give people something real, something worth having. “I never wanted to just sell things,” he says with a laugh. “I want someone to walk away feeling they found something that belongs to them.”
